Maddie, Polestar Pilates instructor and pharmacist in Hong Kong
Maddie's Story

Two disciplines. One approach.

Maddie's path to Pilates instruction began in pharmacy. After completing her BSc in Pharmacy, she spent years working in clinical settings — developing a deep, evidence-based understanding of the human body, pain mechanisms, and how movement affects recovery.

She became a Polestar Pilates Certified Instructor because Polestar's approach aligned with everything she knew from her pharmacist training: that intelligent, precise movement is one of the most powerful tools for healing the body.

A fall when she was young left Maddie with chronic pelvic pain, a condition she successfully transformed through the knowledge and practice of Mat Pilates. Experiencing firsthand the profound pain relief and improved movement it offers, she is a true testament to Mat Pilates and is deeply passionate about guiding others on their own healing journey.

"I saw too many people spending money on fancy studios and equipment when what they really needed was someone who could look at how they were moving and understand why it was causing them pain."

Philosophy

Why the studio model often fails real people.

The typical Pilates studio is designed to look impressive. Rows of Reformer machines, mirrored walls, and marketing imagery full of young, flexible bodies. This environment is actively off-putting to the people who would benefit most from Pilates: those in their 40s, 50s, and 60s dealing with real physical issues.

In a group class, an instructor cannot possibly give each person the attention their body needs. In a private session with Maddie, every single movement is chosen for you — your posture, your pain, your history, your goals.

This is not a fitness class. It is expert movement guidance, grounded in clinical knowledge, delivered in a comfortable and private setting.
